Error code MP170

Problem

i'v just brought a canon pixma mp180/mp160. i have installed the software and everything. the printer works fine but the scanner dose not. it trys to scan but a thing comes up that says its not plug in or cable not connected with numbers. the canon is pluged in of cours becasue the printer works. could some one help me please

Referring to the solution suggested inhttp://www.pcwelt.de/forum/scanner/265043-canon-pixma-mp-600-kommunikationsfehler-beim-scannen.html (for german readers) I switched my 3.5m USB-cable to a 2m long USB-cable and got rid auf the error 2155 while trying to scan with my MP170 on a Vista Ultimate PC.
